The 31st annual Scandinavian Midsummer Festival is in Golden this year, and premier luxury bus transportation to and from the fabulous festivities on Saturday, June 15, is being offered by the Global Village Museum of Arts and Cultures. Arranging the trip is the Museum’s Global Adventures club, designed for those who love to travel, want to recount their travel experiences, delight in sharing stories of travel, and/or dream of traveling one day. The Scandinavian Midsummer Festival welcomes over 80 artisans, organizations, and performers to share their culture and traditions through food, crafts, demonstrations, and entertainment. Participants will enjoy the raising of – and dancing around – the Midsummer Pole, the Scandinavian Market, the Fjellborg Vikings in their living history encampment, storytelling and games with Leif the Viking, making crafts such as flower crowns, and the Scandinavian Classic Car Show by the Rocky Mountain Volvo Group. Transportation tickets are $80 per person, and registration and signed waiver are required by 5 pm Friday, June 7, at globalvillagemuseum.org. The luxury bus will depart at 8:30 am from Harmony Park and Ride, on the northwest corner of I-25 and Harmony Road. The return trip will arrive by 4 pm at the same location. Admission to the Festival is free, and registrants will pay for their own food and shopping. Registrants are asked to bring a cell phone to maintain contact with the group. If weather is not conducive for the outdoor Festival, the bus will drive around Golden, catching the sights and stopping at the Sherpa House Restaurant and Cultural Center. The unique Center features authentic Himalayan cuisine and traditional Sherpa culture with interior décor that is an authentic representation of a typical Sherpa house in the Solu-Khumbu region of Nepal. Participants will be responsible for the cost of their meal. The Global Village Museum is located at 200 West Mountain Avenue, and Museum hours are 11 am to 5 pm Tuesday through Saturday.
